After 30 years as an orthopaedic and trauma surgeon, my enthusiasm for the subject and for working with my patients remains undiminished. The possibility of being able to help people with significant limitations to their quality of life through advice and treatment is a constant incentive. The informed patient, who supports the treatment in dialogue with his doctor, is my goal.

Specialist areas shoulder and elbow surgery:
I cover the entire field of shoulder surgery – from diagnostic arthroscopy, tendon sutures, stabilising procedures (open and arthroscopic), treatment of fractures to shoulder prostheses.
Elbow surgery includes open and arthroscopic procedures, such as the removal of free joint bodies. Due to my many years of work as a team doctor for top teams in football and handball, I naturally also cover the entire remaining spectrum of sports medicine.
Most of the interventions are performed on an inpatient basis. As a rule, one night of inpatient stay after a procedure is sufficient. Of course, this does not apply to prosthetic surgery and the treatment of complicated fractures.

Professional career:
I was born in Zell am See and studied at the Medical University of Innsbruck for 11 semesters (winning two performance scholarships each for the 2nd and 3rd sections), where I began my post-doctoral medical training in the University Department of General Surgery under Prof. Raimund Margreiter in Innsbruck in 2003.
As orthopaedics had already emerged as my preferred subject during my studies, I changed to the University Department of Orthopaedics Innsbruck (Prof. Martin Krismer) in 2005.
At the hospital in Innsbruck I was able to follow the development of the minimally invasive hip approach first-hand, before I moved to my home in Salzburg to the Paracelsus Medical University of Salzburg (Prof. U. Dorn) in 2006.
At the LKH Salzburg I had 7 years of experience with senior physician Dr Franz Landauer, an excellent mentor in the field of endoprosthetics, foot surgery and especially paediatric orthopaedics, and was allowed to lead the sports orthopaedic outpatient clinic here from 2011.
Dr Franz Landauer also taught me how immensely important it is to take patients seriously with all their fears and worries and to give them the feeling that they are in good hands.
In October 2012, I accepted the position of senior physician at the Orthopaedic Department of the Kardinal Schwarzenberg Hospital in Schwarzach under Dr Manfred Höflehner, since I, as a Pinzgau native, very much appreciate my homeland with all its beauty.
